Council Locks in Easter

The roar of engines will reverberate around Mount Panorama again next April after Council last night accepted a proposal from Yeehah Events to stage the Bathurst Motor Festival over the Easter weekend.

The Bathurst Motor Festival is set to be run over four days at Mount Panorama.  It will involve up to seven categories of cars and will include circuit racing events.

Confirmation that the festival will go ahead is great news for Bathurst and for motor sport enthusiasts, and ensures that a long tradition of Easter racing in Bathurst will continue in 2011.

“Easter is historically a very important time at Mount Panorama and I’m thrilled that Council has been able to fill the void left after the departure of the Festival of Sporting Cars,” said Bathurst Mayor Paul Toole.

“This event will be a wonderful addition to the Mount Panorama calendar and I’m confident it will be a great success in 2011 and beyond.”

The Bathurst Motor Festival will be run by promoter, Yeehah Events, who have a strong track record at Mount Panorama as the promoter of the popular Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour.

Preliminary planning for the Bathurst Motor Festival has been underway for a number of weeks but preparations will accelerate now that the event has been given the green light by Council.

An announcement on the composition of the event is expected from the promoter before Christmas.
