Jimmy Vernon confident of turning speed into results

The Alfa Romeo of Dylan O’Keeffe has hogged the majority of the Italian brand’s limelight in the opening two rounds of the carsales TCR Australia Series, scoring two victories and holding down second in the title chase.

Meanwhile, the second Alfa of Jimmy Vernon has not troubled the podium organisers at this stage, however, the signs for the young Sydneysider are encouraging.

Vernon was in the mix for a podium result at Phillip Island until getting caught up in an incident in Saturday’s Race 1, and showed strong speed across the whole weekend.

The former Toyota 86 Racing Series champion says that O’Keeffe’s results and his own personal learnings has given him confidence that a result is not far away.

“You can see that the Alf has a lot of pace – Dylan has been dominating so far,” said Vernon.

“We bounce data and video off each other and it has been good to talk to him and learn. These cars are new to me, so I’ve been learning a lot. It’s a different driving style to anything I’ve been used to.

“The pace is there, we just need to put it all together and have some luck on our side.”
