Andre Heimgartner out of Sunday race action at QR
Kelly Racing has withdrawn the #777 Holden Astra of Andre Heimgartner from today’s two races at Queensland Raceway.
In what has been a horror start to Heimgartner’s TCR campaign, the Kiwi had an engine failure in yesterday’s first race while running competitively inside the top five.
With no available spare in the Kelly Racing inventory, it has elected to withdraw the car and focus on preparing it for the next event at Winton Raceway.
It is the second event in a row that Heimgartner has failed to make Sunday’s race after his Subaru had engine dramas at The Bend that forced him out early.
In other Race 1 news, Volkswagen driver Jason Bright has received a 10 second penalty for contact with the Audi of Leanne Tander.
Two 30 minute races will be held today, with the first race starting at 1:15pm AEST.
