Brown edges closer to the title as Argentinian continues winning ways
Will Brown is one race away from the inaugural carsales TCR Australia Series crown after a torrid second race at Sandown Park.
He achieved his target as he finished ahead of his only championship rival Dylan O’Keefe and can wrap up the series if he repeats in the final race.
“It was crazy out there. I was just trying to keep out of the way,” says Brown.
“I was trying to get up the front but also not to get tagged. I had a lousy start and it was tough from there.”
Argentinian import Nestor Girolami kept his 100 per cent record intact with another win in his Honda Civic Type R, repeating his victory on Saturday after setting the quickest times in every Sandown track session.
His job was made easier during a brutal race that triggered two safety car periods, as Garth Tander claimed second in an Audi RS3 and James Moffat was third in a Renault Megane RS.
“This one was easier than yesterday. There were many incidents behind me. I made a good start and then controlled the pace,” says Girolami.
“They were all being a bit ambitious so I picked them off. The car is good and I didn’t show my hand yet,” says Tander.
“He passed me,” is all Moffat is saying after losing second to Tander.
The Race 2 casualties included veteran Russell Ingall and speedy John Martin, who were both involved in incidents, while Alex Whitely’s car stopped on the circuit.
