Heimgartner stripped of third place, D’Alberto promoted to podium

Kelly Racing’s Andre Heimgartner has been stripped of his third place finish after a fraught round of carsales TCR Australia Series action at Sandown today.

The fast Kiwi had earned his Holden Astra its first podium finish in the inaugural Australian series, however, he was judged to have passed D’Alberto under flag conditions at Turn 1 due to the slowing Volkswagon of Alexandra Whitley.

Heimgartner was handed a 15 second penalty for his crime, putting him back to eighth for the race and promoting D’Alberto to third overall, making it D’Alberto’s third podium finish for the year.
