Tim Brook gets first taste of CUPRA at Winton

Tim Brook has shaken down Garage1’s CUPRA TCR at Winton and is confident that it will be a competitive package.

The New South Welshman enjoyed 40 laps behind the wheel of the car that the team recently acquired from Germany ahead of its carsales TCR Australia debut at The Bend in two weeks time.

The event will be Brook’s second in TCR Australia, having competed at the Winton round for the Wall Racing Honda team.

Despite the round being Garage1’s first in TCR, Brook says that the team and car are going to be strong from the outset.

“We shook it down on old tyres, ran spanners over it and made sure everything was OK. It ran faultless all day,” said Brook.

“Everything felt very good. It was a trouble free day and no dramas of note.

“I obviously drove the Honda there a few months ago, so I had a reference of what is needed around that track, and it felt like a really good package.

“Now, I just can’t wait to get to The Bend.”

The Garage1 team will reveal the livery of the CUPRA – the performance arm of SEAT – in the near future.

Two practice sessions will be held on Friday followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and the final two races of 2019 on Sunday.

Thee TCR Australia Series will again share the weekend with the all-new S5000 class.
