Jay Hanson thrilled with first full test in Alfa TCR car

Jay Hanson has wasted little time getting ready for the 2020 TCR Australia Series, clocking over 100 laps at Winton today in his first official outing as a TCR driver.

Hanson is the newest addition to the TCR Australia grid after announcing yesterday that he will compete in the 2020 season with Ashley Seward Motorsport in the ex-Dylan O’Keeffe Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce.

It was Hanson’s second drive of the Alfa, having completed 30 laps in the car at the driver evaluation test at Winton in August.

Today, however, gave him his first real chance to find his feet in the turbocharged rockets, and the 16-year-old school kid was excited about it.

“It was good to finally get the monkey off my back and get my first full test under my belt,” said Hanson.

“To finish off a full day was great. Last time, I only got 30 laps, but today I did almost 100 and got through a full testing program.

“I progressed to a lap time that was consistent and respectable. Practice makes you better, and we still have things to improve on, but I’m confident that we’ll get there.”

The team plans to complete another test at Tailem Bend next week before all focus turns to the opening event of the 2020 season at Albert Park for the inaugural Asia Pacific Cup at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
