Round 1 of TCR Australia Series in Sydney postponed

The opening round of the carsales TCR Australia Series at Sydney Motorsport Park has been postponed.

Due to be held next weekend, Motorsport Australia, together with the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club (ARDC) operators of SMSP and Australian Racing Group (ARG), has postponed the round due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation.

A new date will be announced in due course, with Motorsport Australia and ARDC to work closely together to find a suitable option for all categories to complete a round at the Sydney venue.

TCR Australia category manager Liam Curkpatrick says that the difficult decision is being worked through with the teams.

“It is a difficult time for all and there will be a lot of questions,” said Curkpatrick.

“We are working very hard behind the scenes to provide answers to questions and to reconfigure the 2020 calendar and ensure (where possible) to minimise the impact.

“As always we will consult with our teams on our progress and where possible get feedback on options moving forward. It is important we all work together for the best possible result for the Series and all teams involved.”
