Strong Kiwi continent for carsales ARG eSport Cup
Eight entries from two New Zealand TCR teams have been entered for the inaugural carsales ARG eSport Cup.
Replacing the real life racing that has been put on hold due to the coronavirus, the online racing competition will fill the void for race-starved fans all around the world, broadcast live and free on the TCR Australia social media platforms.
Track Tec Racing has secured six entries for the ARG Cup, including some of its race drivers, potential drivers and team crew.
Track Tec brought two Audis over for the ill-fated TCR Asia Pacific Cup at Albert Park from its base at Highlands. Dutch driver Stan van Oord and Kiwi Jack Milligan both got the chance to practice and qualify against Australia’s crop of TCR competitors at the Grand Prix, only for the cancelation of the event to curtail their run.
Now, the will get the chance to compete against them again, but this time in the virtual world.
The other Track Tec entries in the eSport Cup include ex-Audi works driver Dutchman Niels Langeveld who was at Albert Park as driver coach to van Oord.
Rowan Shephard will also compete, having traced for Track Tec in local NZ racing competition, as well as the TCR Spa 500 last year.
Timaru driver Tim Dossett has also signed up for the virtual competition having tested with Track Tec Racing recently. Dossett has plans to race in the TCR New Zealand Championship when it kicks off.
Track Tec’s driver coach Andrew Waite will also represent the team, while former S5000 driver and SuperUtes winner Tom Alexander, who is a potential entrant for the team when racing returns, will represent Track Tec’s seven-strong entries.
The eighth and final Kiwi entrant is Hyundai i30 N TCR owner/driver Rhys Gould.
Drivers in the carsales ARG eSport Cup will compete on the iRacing software, alternating between the Audi TCR car and Formula 3 open wheel racing, offering diverse competition over the 10 week competition.
The carsales ARG eSport Cup will kick off on Thursday, April 2.

Team owner, Track Tec Racing
“The ARG eSport Cup is a great way to stay engaged with the TCR and motorsport community,” said Doran.
“It’s also a good opportunity how we can use the simulator as a tool to help drivers prepare for races.
“We have a simulator here at our Highlands workshop, so this will give us the opportunity learn how to get the most out of it.
“Racing Sims has come to the rescue for Tom and Jack’s entries. They’ve gone over and above to help get them the right gear to be on track, and we hope that our strong continent of drivers will represent us at the front of the field!”
