James Moffat topped the opening TCR Australia practice session at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Moffat rocketed to the top of the times in the final minute of the half-hour session with a 1m35.369s in his Garry Rogers Motorsport Renault Megane.

That left Moffat just over two-tenths clear of Lee Holdsworth, who had been leading the way in his Ashley Seward Motorsport Alfa Romeo.

Holdsworth wound up splitting two GRM Renaults, Dylan O’Keeffe third fastest ahead of Wall Racing Honda pair John Martin and Tony D’Alberto.

GRM-run entries filled much of the remaining spots in the Top 10, Michael Caruso (Alfa Romeo) sixth fastest from Jason Bargwanna (Peugeot), Jordan Cox (Alfa Romeo) and Ben Bargwanna (Peugeot).

Series leader Chaz Mostert was 10th fastest in his Melbourne Performance Centre Audi.

There was one stoppage in the session, Josh Buchan bringing out the red flag when his HMO Customer Racing Hyundai rolled to a stop at Turn 8.
