Jay Hanson to miss Morgan Park ahead of renewed 2021 focus

Jay Hanson will miss the next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, keen to get his season back on track after a speedy start to the year.

Hanson has elected to leave the Ash Seward Motorsports team who have prepared his Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce for the first four rounds in 2021.

The 17-year-old will return to the series at Sandown with another team.

“There has been some frustrations this year, so we are going to have a change of plans for the rest of 2021,” said Hanson.

“We are going to miss Morgan Park to put some new plans in place, and then we should be back for Sandown.

“The time I spent at ASM was a great learning experience, and I really enjoyed having Lee Holdsworth as a team-mate and mentor. Both Lee and Ash have both really taught me a lot.”

Hanson enjoyed a blockbuster start to the year, running with the top three in the opening round at Symmons Plains, and even claiming a podium finish before it was stripped due to a collision with Chaz Mostert.

Hanson currently sits 16th in the series standings.

The next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will be held at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland on August 13-15. CLICK HERE to book your tickets.
