TCR privateer gains further support for maiden campaign

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series privateer Lachlan Mineeff and his Purple Sector team will feature additional support from high performance software and hardware company Unitronic for the remaining rounds of the 2021 season.

Specialising in Audi and Volkswagen models, Unitronic has a significant presence in North American motorsport through its support of JDC-Miller Motorsport in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Series entering a team of Audi RS3 LMS TCRs.

This association has enabled Unitronic to grow its business through motorsport across the US and Canada.

Through this platform, Unitronic has developed its software and hardware to meet the demands of high-level competition, identified potential dealers, facilitated new technical partnerships as well as business-to-business relationships and not only created, but grown its OEM manufacturer associations.

Unitronic’s Technical Director John Staffi believes the company’s support of Mineeff and Purple Sector is a great opportunity to expand its success in America into Australia.

“The Australian market has a large growth opportunity for our company and we’re excited to be able to showcase our brand in TCR, on one of the most popular platforms for our Performance Software and Hardware in the VW Golf GTi,” Staffi said.

“We hope to be able to gain some recognition in Australia, create some opportunities to further develop the Australian market, together with our distributor, BWA Auto, and show the Australian market a good time at the races!

“The VW GTI TCR SEQ is quite a bit different from an aero perspective and setup wise, from our Audi RS3 LMS TCR SEQ that we run in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge here in North America, but we’re eager to see how the team and Lachlan perform.”

Debuting at Round 2 of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia at Phillip Island, Purple Sector is a partnership between Lachlan Mineeff Motorsport and VAGPARTS Australia.

VAGPARTS Australia supplies genuine performance parts – including Unitronic components – for Volkswagen and Audi models. Owner Paul Fry described Unitronic’s support was another step forward for Purple Sector.

“This partnership is really fantastic. It fits perfectly with our image, our strategy, and our love for motorsport,” Fry said.

The distributors of Unitronic in Australia and New Zealand, BWA Auto is another key partner to Purple Sector.

“BWA Auto is a strong partner for us, and as a proud Canadian, having Unitronic on board couldn’t be more fitting,” Fry continued.

For Mineeff, it is an exciting development ahead of the next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series at Morgan Park on August 13-15.

“It’s always satisfying to attract new sponsors to our team and with Unitronic, we’re in the heartland of their target demographic,” Mineeff said.

“The team at Unitronic are passionate about motorsport, as demonstrated by their success in America. We’re looking forward to replicating that story here in Australia and hopefully exploring some cross-promotional opportunities with their American motorsport programme.”

The next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will be held at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland on August 13-15. CLICK HERE for ticketing information.
