“TCR Australia is a top class, competitive field, with the young guys coming up, who are in blistering form challenging the experienced drivers,” Beretta summarised.
“To see the emergence of some of the young names and the way they’ve taken up to the drivers with big reputations, that’s been a highlight this year. I think really that just stamps TCR as a really fantastic, legitimate category for motorsport fans. You are going to see names you know, highly skilled drivers, young kids rattling the cage and having a real crack, which I just think is fantastic.
“They’re just good stories, I mean I’ve spent a lot of time around Lee Holdsworth, Michael Caruso and James Moffat over the years, they’ll always be blokes who I really have a lot of time for. To have Chaz Mostert racing in there as well has been just brilliant.
“I think it’s been an exciting thing for fans too. The racing is always close, but you just don’t know who is going to be up there at the end of the day. Obviously, Chaz is in red hot form and he’s hard to catch, but some of the young guys have been fantastic and it’s a real battle out there.
“Seeing brands and cars we haven’t seen racing a lot here in Australia before. Some of the brands out there are turning heads, they are surprising people and it’s great to see them involved in motorsport here, plus have the success.
“That’s the beauty of this category, it’s got that worldwide appeal and connection. When you’re racing in TCR, you’re racing in a category where you can be involved anywhere in the world.”
The next rounds of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park on October 15-17.
