Lachlan Mineeff ready for TCR Bathurst 400 challenge

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia privateer Lachlan Mineeff expects his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR to be well suited to not only the Mountain, but the longer race formats of the inaugural TCR Bathurst 400.

The series will contest its longest events ever later this month, with three 21-lap races to conclude the second season of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia.

Mineeff debuted at Phillip Island after purchasing the ex-Alliance Autosport Volkswagen Golf GTI driven by Alexandra Whitley in 2019 and began his campaign by placing inside the top 10.

Due to Bathurst 6 Hour commitments, Mineeff missed the next round at Mount Panorama and instead undertook his first event as a privateer at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Although it will be his maiden appearance at Bathurst in the Purple Sector Volkswagen Golf GTI, Mineeff believes the package is suited to the longer format.

“The prospect of racing at the Mountain, especially on the Bathurst 1000 weekend is super exciting for our team and sponsors,” he said.

“I can’t wait and looking forward to it.

“We missed the Bathurst 6 Hour support races, due to participating in that event, but I think the longer races are going to be fantastic for our team and it’s a bit more of an even playing field. No one has long race experience, so I think our experience racing in the 6 Hour will be an advantage.”

Mineeff recently began preparations for the TCR Bathurst 400 by completing a test at Sydney Motorsport Park.
