James Moffat ruled out of Race 3 at Symmons Plains Raceway

James Moffat has been ruled out of the final race of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series at Symmons Plains after significant damage to his Renault Megane R.S in Race 2 today.

Moffat was involved in a clash with Jay Hanson at the final corner where Hanson attempted a pass on Moffat before their wheels inter-locked and sent Moffat backwards into the tyre wall.

After the incident, Moffat confronted Hanson’s MPC team boss Troy Russell in a feisty conversation, and later confirmed that his Renault could not be repaired for today’s second race.

“It was a bit ambitious. It was all pretty ordinary,” Moffat told the Stan Sport broadcast.

“We’re out for the rest of the weekend, there’s a lot of damage to the car and not the way we wanted to finish today.”

When asked what was said between himself and Russell, Moffat said it was a retaliation.

“He mouthed off to me actually, and I just didn’t appreciate that, so I just let him know that,” Moffat said.

Race 3 of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series starts at 1620 AEDT.
