Fabian Coulthard locked in for more Supercheap Auto TCR Australia with Wall Racing

Fabian Coulthard will return to the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series for the second round at Phillip Island next week.

After making his front-wheel drive debut in the first round at Symmons Plains last month, Coulthard will continue in his Wall Racing-prepared Honda Civic Type R TCR, sporting continued backing from Stan Sport.

In what was his debut in the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, Coulthard sits 13th in the points standings after the Tasmanian event that included some strong speed, despite electronic gremlins that hampered him in both of Sunday’s races.

Stan Sport’s involvement in Coulthard’s Honda TCR comes after the successful first broadcast of the ARG SpeedSeries in Tasmania. In the space of a few short months, Stan Sport has asserted itself as a major player in live and on-demand motorsport coverage in Australia, including the ARG SpeedSeries, Australian Superbikes, IndyCar, World Rally and more.

Hyundai hotshot Josh Buchan leads the title after the first round, closely followed by surprise privateer Zac Soutar, Tony D’Alberto, Peugeot’s Jordan Cox and Buchan’s Hyundai team-mate Nathan Morcom.

The Phillip Island TCR Australia race will be part of the second round of the Speed Series, competing on a jam-packed Shannons Motorsport Australia Championship bill.

TCR Australia will be joined by the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Turtle Wax Trans Am Series and the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championships, among others.

All of the action will be broadcast live and on-demand on Stan Sport, with midweek highlights on the Nine Network’s 9GEM channel.

Tickets for the Phillip Island event are available now. All tickets must be ordered online. CLICK HERE to secure your place at the famous Grand Prix circuit.

Ben Kimber

Director, Stan Sport

“The first round of the brand new SpeedSeries was a huge success and the feedback we received from the Tasmanian event was terrific. We’re incredibly pleased with how it’s come together, and we’ve only just begun,” said Kimber.

“We’ve built a world class on-air Motorsport team to showcase the SpeedSeries and we are looking forward to bringing Stan Sport viewers all the action round from Round 2 in Phillip Island.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to have Fabian continue to represent Stan Sport in the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series. Fabian is an extremely talented driver and a brilliant ambassador for our new partnership with SpeedSeries. We can’t wait to see him on the track in Phillip Island.”

“It’s awesome that I’ve got a second chance in the Stan Sport Honda TCR at Phillip Island,” said Coulthard.

“Symmons Plains was certainly a baptism of fire for me. It was my first race in a front-wheel drive race car, so there was a lot to get my head around, but I felt that I adapted pretty quick. A few electrical gremlins held us back, but we certainly have the speed to be at the pointy end.

“The Hondas have proven to be really strong at Phillip Island in the past. They have a heap of data from down there too, so I’m confident that we can be competitive.

“Like most drivers will say, Phillip Island is one of the best race tracks we have here in Australia, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Honda goes around there.”
