Adding further mountain memories the target for Zac Soutar

Leading Supercheap Auto TCR Australia privateer Zac Soutar is confident his consistent results so far this season won’t go amiss at Bathurst following on from a strong performance at the circuit last December.

The Bathurst finale last year was a highlight for Soutar in various ways led by the signing of Spicers Australia as his major supporter, which was then followed by a season high sixth in the third race.

“It was awesome at Bathurst last year grabbing sixth holding off Christopher Mies and it was the start of our Spicers relationship,” said Soutar.

“I’ve got great memories there. It’s exciting to return to Bathurst, a place where we scored our best result last year and we hope to build on this time around.”

Following his Bathurst performance, Soutar has since scored victory at Symmons Plains and is currently third in the standings. He credits his improved performances not only to a more formal technical alliance with Wall Racing, but also the Honda’s continued development making it an improved package overall.

“The Honda is shaping up to be a pretty consistent package as it seems to be there or thereabouts at each circuit,” stated Soutar.

“It’s maybe not the outright fastest car, but it’s more consistent than last year. I hope to go to Bathurst and have it somewhere in the window to hopefully snag some more points there.

Surrounded by his small, hardworking, family team, Soutar is confident there is more pace to come out of his Honda Civic Type R TCR as the season progresses.

“It’s still a very long way to go and I think we need to keep on working to find a little bit more speed out of the Honda,” he admitted.

“We’ll keep chipping away and go a little bit better at Bathurst.”

The next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series heads to Bathurst as part of a bumper Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event during the Easter long weekend where the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series, MRF Tyres Australian Pulsar Racing Association, NSW Historic Touring Cars and NSW HQ Holdens complete the bill.

All of the action will be live, ad-break free and on demand exclusively on Stan Sport in Australia.
