First race under lights confirmed for Supercheap Auto TCR Australia

There will be a new challenge for the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia drivers at Round 4 of the series at Sydney Motorsport Park as for the first time the category will race under lights.

Competing on Saturday night, the opening encounter will provide another exciting spectacle to the series in what is expected to be an exciting spectacle.

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia forms part of a bumper Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships roster at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 27-29 where the tight title battle continues.

Currently, Honda Wall Racing’s Tony D’Alberto holding a 37-point margin from inaugural series winner and MPC Team LIQUI MOLY driver Will Brown in his Audi RS3 LMS TCR.

So far this season, four maiden winners have been crowned at the opening three events and with the inverted top 10 format for Race 2, it is expected the 20th different race winner in Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series history will take victory in Sydney.

Two practice sessions begin the round’s action on Friday starting at 1:50pm, before the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia drivers get their first taste of night conditions at 7:15pm.

Qualifying as usual kicks of the live and uninterrupted Stan Sport coverage at 1:40pm ahead of the very first Supercheap Auto TCR Australia race under lights at 6:45pm.

Sunday’s schedule begins at 11:20am for the inverted top 10 format of Race 2, before Supercheap Auto TCR Australia concludes the event at 4:10pm.

All the action can be viewed live and uninterrupted on Stan Sport, while a highlights package will be broadcast after the event on 9Gem (times to be advised).

The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series headlines the third round of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships where fellow Australian Racing Group categories the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship, Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters and Turtle Wax Trans Am Series feature.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, the Australian Production Car Series, Radical Cup and the Australian Prototype Series complete a stacked program of categories.
