Lachlan Mineeff inspired to continue TCR learning

Racing alongside some of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia’s leading names has inspired Purple Sector privateer Lachlan Mineeff after a robust weekend of racing at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The fourth round of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia also dawned a new era for the category as it conducted a race at night for the first time.

Qualifying 19th for the opening race under lights, Mineeff was one of the key movers through the field just falling short of a top 10 finish.

Two tough races followed as Mineeff battled the likes of race winner this season Fabian Coulthard, series leader Tony D’Alberto and last year’s runner up Aaron Cameron as he took away further knowledge, he can apply at future rounds.

There are some really well-credentialed operators in TCR and the opportunity to go door handle to door handle with them gives me so much learning into the future,” Mineeff summarised.

“This time, contact with other cars in both Races 2 and 3 put a hamper on our results, some in our control and some outside our control.

“We can learn from this and come out punching in the next rounds.

“The racing is what we live for, and it showed on Sunday why Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series is such a great series.

“There was a lot of chaos across Sunday’s races, but it was some really good racing and that’s what we love to see.”

Race pace is the strength for the Purple Sector Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR and it was displayed during the opening race by his climb through the field, building confidence in the package.

“We had mega race pace in Race 1, to move forward six spots from where we qualified,” he said.

“In that first race, we had the eighth quickest lap time and given the tools at our disposal, we are very pleased with the performance.”

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia continues at Queensland Raceway on August 5-7, a venue Mineeff tested at prior to the start of this season.
