Schedule revealed for Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series return to Sandown

For the first time since its inaugural season in 2019, Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series races at the historic Sandown venue in metropolitan Melbourne for the penultimate event on the calendar.

A home round for many of the teams competing including Garry Rogers Motorsport, Melbourne Performance Centre in addition to privateer squads Michael Clemente Motorsport and Team Soutar Motorsport, Sandown is a welcome return to the calendar.

Honda Wall Racing’s Tony D’Alberto enters his home event with a 58-point margin in the standings back to Swyftx GRM Peugeot’s Jordan Cox, while young gun Jay Hanson rose to third following strong performances at Queensland Raceway is just a further two-points adrift.

Last time Supercheap Auto TCR Australia visited Sandown, it was Honda’s WTCR Argentinean ace Nestor Girolami achieving the first weekend clean-sweep in a third Wall Racing Honda Civic Type R.

There have been many changes in competition since then and no manufacturer can be discounted approaching the penultimate round of the series.

Action for Supercheap Auto TCR Australia competitors begins on Friday as two practice sessions await starting at 11:30pm AEST and 2:40pm AEST respectively.

Moving straight into qualifying on Saturday, the regular two-part session begins with the opening 15-minute encounter at 11:35am before the battle for Astrontech Pole Position commences at 11:55am AEST.

The first of what is set to be three exciting 22-lap races will be held at 4:20pm AEST Saturday.

Sunday features the final two events of the weekend for Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, with Race 2 beginning at 12:55pm and the final encounter concluding the SpeedSeries action from Sandown at 4:10pm.

Stan Sport’s live, uninterrupted and on-demand SpeedSeries coverage is between 11:00am-5:00pm AEST on Saturday, while Sunday’s broadcast is at 10:30am-5:00pm AEST.

Live action will also feature on 9Go or 9Gem on Saturday between 3:00pm-5:00pm AEST, which includes the opening race of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, but make sure to check your local guides.
