During the Project i30 series, the team at HMO Customer Racing will upgrade the brakes, cooling, suspension and appearance, while also providing insight on what makes his racing version tick.

Launched four years ago, the Hyundai i30 N has quickly established itself as a market leading contender in the competitive hot hatch market rivalling such illustrious nameplates including the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Ford Focus ST, Renault Megane RS, Honda Civic Type R, Cupra Leon and the soon to arrive Toyota Corolla GR.

Most of these models feature on the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia grid where Buchan is a title contender approaching the final round at Bathurst.

In the first episode, Buchan provides an overview of the stock i30 N capabilities and credentials in addition to what areas will be modified during the series.

Episode two is where Buchan explains the similarities between the engine in both the race and road-going variants. Let’s just say, the changes are minimal.

The build begins in the third episode as using N Performance parts, the front brakes are upgraded using bigger calipers, pads and two-piece rotors. Suspension is also modified to include a performance lowered springs and carbon strut brace, while a rear wing was added also to improve on the Hyundai’s already handsome appearance.

In the next episode, the cooling system will be overhauled and to catch this episode head to Nulon’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nulon.aus, plus chuck it a like!
