Tony D’Alberto and Honda Australia return to traditional colours for 2023 TCR title defence

Tony D’Alberto, Honda Australia and Wall Racing will head into the 2023 TCR Australia Series with a new, traditional look to their Civic Type R TCR racer.

The defending champions will compete with a clean, sharp white and red scheme – a typically traditional Honda motorsport look and feel.

The colours are a departure from the previous liveries that D’Alberto and Honda have used for its TCR Australia entries. In 2021, D’Alberto’s blue Civic celebrated the arrival of the new year model Civic, while in his championship winning 2022 season, D’Alberto used the yellow scheme that depicted a limited edition Civic Type R model.

Perhaps one of the smallest changes, yet biggest in the hearts and minds of D’Alberto, Honda Australia and Wall Racing, though, is the change from #50 to #1.

Since the inaugural 2019 TCR Australia season, D’Alberto has used the #50, which at the time celebrated Honda Australia’s 50th year in the country.

The 2023 season will mark the first time that he is not using #50, instead changing to #1 after his nail biting series win last year.

The new look Honda Civic Type R will make its debut in the opening round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series at Symmons Plains Raceway on February 24-26.

“It’s always great to start the new year with a fresh look, and after being bright and bold over the past couple of seasons, it was the right time to switch back to a traditional Honda racing livery,” said D’Alberto.

“Honda has an incredible history in motorsport, and when you see these colours on a race car, you know it’s a Honda race car.

“We’ve been fortunate to have some really good looking Type R liveries over the years, and maybe I’m a little one-eyed, but this one is my favourite, and I can’t wait to get it onto the Symmons Plains track next week.”

Carolyn McMahon

Director Automotive, Honda Australia

“After seeing Tony score that fantastic series win in 2022, we wanted to see him race with the #1 and favourable Honda colours, white and red,” said McMahon.

“We wish Tony and Wall Racing all the best for the 2023 TCR Australia season and we know that he will be giving it his all for Honda Australia.”
