Garry Rogers Motorsport to homologate new Peugeot 308 TCR

Melbourne-based Garry Rogers Motorsport will produce the next Peugeot 308 TCR after coming to an agreement with the French manufacturer.

GRM Director Barry Rogers revealed the news during last weekend’s Stan Sport coverage at AWC Race Tasmania as well as to Wide World of Sports. CLICK HERE to read this story.

“We’ve had a great relationship with Peugeot Sport the last couple of years and during last year we were talking about it, the new 308 is out in the market here in Australia as a hybrid,” Rogers explained to Stan Sport’s Chris Stubbs.

“It’s a great looking car, we got the green light from Peugeot Sport to go press on and do the homologation on the new model.

“We’re really looking forward to it, it’s motivational for the crew at GRM. We’ve obviously built 18 of the S5000s, the Volvo program previous to that, but we have a great history in designing and manufacturing quality race cars. To deal with a global brand like Peugeot is something we’re really proud of.”

GRM and Peugeot Sport’s relationship started at the final round of the inaugural Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series at The Bend Motorsport Park when Aurelien Comte and a French crew debuted the marque.

It was announced GRM was to become the Australian agent for Peugeot and has since entered at least two in each season since, with five featuring at last year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.

Jason Bargwanna took the first win for Peugeot on Australian soil at Phillip Island in 2021, while victories for Aaron Cameron, Jordan Cox and Ben Bargwanna have followed.

Debuting in 2018, the 308 TCR continues to be a race winner across the globe including last weekend at AWC Race Tasmania when Cameron took the Race 2 victory at Symmons Plains.

GRM is currently designing the new model ahead of an expected debut next year, with homologation rules stating 10 must be produced to achieve this.

The next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series forms part of the Shannons SpeedSeries event at Phillip Island on May 12-14.
