WSC and Kumho sign naming rights agreement for TCR World Tour

Kumho Tire will be the title sponsor for the inaugural TCR World Tour starting at Portimao, Portugal on April 28-30.

Already confirmed as the control tyre supplier with its tyre developed specifically for TCR racing globally, Kumho will join as the control supplier in addition to naming rights sponsor.

Outside of the global touring car prize, Kumho supplies TCR Europe, Denmark, TCR Eastern Europe and TCR Spain, while the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series is one of many worldwide to make the switch including TCR South America.

WSC President Marcello Lotti and Kumho Tire CEO Iltaik Jung signed a three-year agreement at a meeting in Lugano last week.

“Kumho Tire has been recognised for its quality and technological excellence by providing official tyres for TCR Europe and other major events,” WSC president Lotti said. “I am certain that the inaugural KUMHO TCR World Tour this year will deliver exciting races.”

Highlighting the importance of motorsport to Kumho’s product, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing Janghyuk Yoon was excited to reveal the company’s support.

“Building on years of technological expertise in motorsports, Kumho Tire is expanding its horizon as a partner of the TCR World Tour,” he said. “We will continue to strengthen our position as a high-performance tyre brand.”

Kumho successfully completed its first round as the control tyre of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia last weekend at AWC Race Tasmania to positive feedback from drivers.

The next round of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia slots in between the first and second events of the Kumho World Tour at Phillip Island as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on May 12-14, with Ben Bargwanna contesting all three.
