Comtoyou Racing confirm Kumho TCR World Tour driver line-up

World Touring Car champion Rob Huff and race winner Frederic Vervisch will spearhead Audi’s attack on the Kumho TCR World Tour.

The German manufacturer will once again be represented by Comtoyou Racing, which has proved a successful partnership since TCR regulations were introduced as the lead touring car formula in 2018.

Although it initially slated a four-car attack, Comtoyou Racing will field two entries, growing to six at the TCR Europe rounds early during the season.

Huff is a vastly experienced driver making the switch from privateer Cupra squad Zengo Motorsport to Comtoyou Racing for the inaugural Kumho TCR World Tour. A factory driver for Chevrolet, Honda, Lada and Seat in a long World Touring Car Championship stint highlighted by a title in 2012.

Belgian Vervisch re-joins the squad following a stint in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS last year. Finishing second in the 2021 WTCR title, Vervisch is also vastly experienced in GT racing and has experience at Mount Panorama having contested multiple LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hours.

Project leader Robin Van Hemelrijick is buoyant about the team’s chances and is also excited by the opportunity to race at prestigious circuits including Mount Panorama.

“The TCR World Tour is, in a way, the continuation of our WTCR programme, but with a completely new formula since we will be joining existing championships,” project leader Robin Van Hemelrijick said. “This world competition, which responds to the idea of “customer racing” wanted by TCR, really looks good with prestigious circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps, SanLuis, Bathurst or Macau, to name but a few.

“We will be sporting the official Audi Sport colours and we clearly want to take advantage of the experience we have gained in the two previous seasons with the Audi RS 3 LMS to aim for the Teams and Drivers titles.

“With Frédéric Vervisch and Rob Huff, we have two real title contenders. We are looking forward to some busy weekends when the TCR World Tour joins the TCR Europe, but we are ready for the challenge.”

The opening round for the Kumho TCR World Tour is at Portimao, Portugal on April 28-30 where Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series driver Ben Bargwanna will make his international debut for Team Clairet Sport.

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia will contest its second round at Phillip Island as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on May 12-14.
