Last time TCR raced at Winton
In its return to the Shannons SpeedSeries calendar, Winton Motor Raceway will welcome seven categories to the fold this weekend as part of the 2023 Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton.
A new schedule will be on the cards compared to the last time the Shannons SpeedSeries visited back in 2019, with the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series the only category to have been part of the race meeting more almost four years ago.
Back then, an impressive 21-entries competed at the then named Winton Supersprint, with three drivers returning for the 2023 edition.
Aaron Cameron, Jordan Cox and Tony D’Alberto will all feature at Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton and will bring some valuable racing experience to a circuit that is already a popular testing ground for many of the drivers.
Coming into what was the fifth round of the 2019 season, it was series leader Will Brown’s first pole position of the year.
Whilst the Hyundai driver was a consistent winner throughout the year, he was finally able to maximise the potential of his Hyundai i30 in qualifying to finish ahead of Andre Heimgartner and John Martin.
Brown was unable to convert his pole position into a race win, but it was all smiles for Jason Bright as he took advantage of a scrap between Brown and Martin ahead to take the lead finally return to the winner’s circle.

A second-place finish was still a good result for Brown’s title aspirations, while Dylan O’Keefe finished in third.
The second running couldn’t have been any more different to the first, with Brown dominating his rivals to score the easiest of wins in race two ahead of Bright and another returning driver for 2023 in Cameron.
The 2019 champion then made it back-to-back wins in race three, with Cameron finishing in second and Russell Ingall in third.
The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will be in action during this month’s Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton, with Saturday and Sunday’s action to be broadcast live and ad-free via Stan Sport.
Saturday’s coverage on Stan Sport will take place from 11:00am to 5:00pm AEST, while 9Gem will showcase the series live and free from 2pm AEST. Sunday’s Stan Sport coverage will start from 9:30am and will conclude at 5:00pm.
