TCR Australia confirms touring car return to One Raceway
Touring car racing will return to southern New South Wales’ revitalised One Raceway in 2025.
Formerly known as Wakefield Park, One Raceway will host the second round of the TCR Australia Series in June this year as part of the category’s adjusted series schedule.
Set to be the second round of its 2025 title fight, TCR Australia will headline the Motorsport Australia Trophy Tour event on June 27-29, marking the first time that national-level touring car racing will be held at the popular venue since the Supercars’ development series (now known as Super2) competed there in 2008.
TCR Australia will visit One Raceway in place of Taupo in New Zealand, which was originally scheduled to host the opening round.
The calendar change means that West Australian TCR fans will be treated to the opening round of the 2025 TCR Australia title fight at Carco.com.auRaceway at Wanneroo as a lead support category to the Supercars Championship.
TCR Australia will feature an exciting five round calendar in 2025, with the Wanneroo round to be followed by One Raceway in June, Winton in August and the TCR World Tour at The Bend in September – a round that will see the world’s best TCR drivers and teams compete on the big stage as part of Supercars’ new pre-Bathurst 1000 endurance race.
The fifth and final round will be confirmed in due course.
The rejuvenated One Raceway is an ideal venue for the turbo-charged pocket rockets, with the new and improved layout set to lend itself perfectly to the nimble touring car racers.
One Raceway has undergone significant development in recent years to address previous issues regarding noise restrictions, which led to the circuit’s temporary closure in late 2022.
Thanks to the vision of the circuit’s operator Steve Shelley and his team, the reborn 2.35km circuit that was officially opened in 1994 features re-profiled corners at each end of the main straight while retaining its undulating and fan-friendly layout. Unique to Australian circuits, One Raceway is officially licensed to operate both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.
The second round of the 2025 TCR Australia Series at One Raceway marks the category’s first race event at the venue, but the track is no stranger to TCR cars having been a regular testing venue for a number of local teams (see attached image).
TCR’s June Trophy Tour event at One Raceway will see the AU3 Championship open wheel category and one-make Formula RX8 Series act as support classes.
