Macau Grand Prix confirmed as final round of 2025 TCR Australia Series

The WSC Group and TCR Australia have confirmed today that the final round of the 2025 season will be a points-paying round at the Macau Grand Prix, one of the most spectacular events in world motorsport.

In a groundbreaking development, the final round of the 2025 TCR Australia Series will be held as part of the prestigious Guia Touring Car Race from November 13-16, in conjunction with the final round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour.

Following the previous announcement of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour’s return to Australia at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park (The Bend) on September 12-14, the TCR Australia Series will now contest two rounds of its title fight alongside the world’s elite TCR competition.

TCR Australia teams have been extended the opportunity by WSC Group – the global rights holder of TCR – to race against the world’s leading TCR teams on the iconic Guia Street Circuit.

Significantly, freight costs for Australian teams heading to Macau will be covered in full.

This news officially locks in the five-round TCR Australia Series, with the category to kick off at CARCO.com.au Raceway (Wanneroo) in Western Australia on June 6-8, supporting the Supercars Championship.

The Perth event will be followed by the category’s first appearance at One Raceway (NSW) ahead of a return to Winton Raceway (Victoria), The Bend (South Australia) and the finale at Macau.

Marcello Lotti

WSC Group President

“TCR Australia has always been one of TCR’s more important and exciting competitions that takes its roots in the long-standing tradition of touring car racing in the country,” said Lotti.

“When logistical issues forced us to cancel the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour’s Australian rounds last year, we immediately started working with the aim of returning in 2025, and so it was important to confirm the event at The Bend.

“It’s great that we have been able to extend the co-operation to a second event and offer the Australian competitors the unique opportunity to finish the season in Macau.”

David Sonenscher

Series Director, TCR Australia

“I’m really happy to be able to bring the TCR Australia Series to one of the most iconic circuits in the world and certainly one of the greatest challenges for a driver,” said Sonenscher.

“The opportunity to extend our co-operation with the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour and showcase the talented Australian drivers on the highest International stage at Macau, demonstrates the unique opportunity that TCR Australia and the global TCR platform provides for all participants.”

ABOUT THE MACAU GRAND PRIX

First held in 1954, the Macau Grand Prix is run on a 6.120km street circuit on the Macau Peninsula. The event is a festival of international motorsport, with the Guia Touring Car Race featuring alongside premium races such as the FIA FR World Cup (Formula Regional), FIA GT World Cup and Macau Grand Prix for motorcycles (Superbikes).

Renowned for its combination of high-speed runs and tight, technical sections of corners, the circuit is revered by many of the world’s best racing drivers. Formula 1 World Champions Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have all won or raced on the Guia Street Circuit.

Established in 1972, the Guia Touring Car Race has long been contested by the world’s best touring car drivers and teams. The addition of TCR Australia Series teams and drivers will also continue a long history of Australian participation in the Guia Touring Car Race, led by the likes of Peter Brock, Allan Moffat, Mark Skaife and Colin Bond during its history.

In 2023, TCR Australia Series race winner Ben Bargwanna competed in the Guia Touring Car Race, while Brad Jones and Paul Morris previously finished second in the 1996 and 1999 races respectively – the highest-ever finishes for Australian drivers in Macau’s touring car classic.
