Inaugural TCR World Ranking Final confirmed
The inaugural TCR World Ranking Final is due to take place at Vallelunga in Italy to close out the season.
Recently ratified by the World Motor Sport Council, the event will take place after the joint TCR World Tour and TCR Australia finale on the streets of Macau on November 21-23.
Drivers to qualify via the TCR World Ranking system will be invited to attend, but this is open to regional competitors only following changes to the eligibility process leaves TCR World Tour drivers are ineligible to compete.
“We are delighted that the World Motor Sport Council has approved the introduction of the FIA TCR World Ranking Final that will be held every other year in alternance with the FIA Motorsport Games,” WSC president Marcello Lotti said.
“It is very appropriate that its inaugural edition will be hosted by Vallelunga, which is an iconic racetrack for touring car competition. The participation in the Final is set to become the ultimate goal for the many competitors who race in the TCR series all around the world.”
The top 45 drivers will qualify for the TCR World Tour Rankings, with Australians Tony D’Alberto (31), reigning series winner Josh Buchan (47) and Zac Soutar (54) all potential representatives.
Of course, TCR Australia’s competitors will get two opportunities to compete alongside the globe’s best at the TCR World Tour rounds at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park and Macau.
Further details will be released regarding the event in due course.
