HONDA ACE GUERRIERI FASTEST IN TCR PRACTICE
Argentinian driver Esteban Guerrieri has set the quickest time in the sole practice session for the FIA Kumho TCR World Tour on early Saturday morning.
Guerrieri, driving the GOAT Racing Honda Civic Type R, set a 1m55.0863s lap late in the session to head compatriot Nestor Girolami (Hyundai, 1m55.2222s) and Mikel Azcona (Hyundai, 1m55.3150s).
Josh Buchan was fastest of the TCR Australia field, with a time of 1m55.5002s putting the New South Welshman at the top of the timing screens until final runs from Guerrieri, Girolami and Azcona.
Buchan’s team-mate, reigning Formula Open Champion and Year 12 student Ryan MacMillan, was the next best in TCR Australia, continuing his encouraging start to touring car competition with the sixth fastest overall time (1m56.0390s).
The armada of factory-backed Cyan Racing Lynk & Co machines seemingly have work to do in Qualifying, filling spots nine through 12 with their fastest driver, Santiago Urrutia, more than 1.4s adrift of Guerrieri’s fastest time.
A short turn-around beckons for the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour ahead of Qualifying at 9:00am ACST to set the grid for Race 1, scheduled for 2:00pm ACST.
