TCR Australia secures live, free and HD television broadcast deal with SBS
TCR Australia is pleased to announce it has secured live, free-to-air television broadcast coverage for its inaugural season on SBS.
The broadcast, to be delivered to fans in high definition on its primary channel, will feature live coverage of both Saturday and Sunday races at all seven Shannons Nationals rounds in 2019.
The landmark deal has been negotiated by the Australian Racing Group and CAMS, offering Australian sports fans that best live and free coverage of any motorsport category in Australia.
All seven TCR Australia rounds will receive extensive live coverage, as well as being available on SBS’s digital platforms.
The broadcast is set to bring to life the international turbocharged touring car class in full high definition glory, giving fans the best access to all races from the comfort of their homes.
The broadcast details and format for TCR Australia’s television coverage will be released in the near future.
SBS is no stranger to coverage of Australian motorsport, having served up post-produced race coverage in its long-standing ‘Speedweek’ program. SBS is also a long-time rights holder of the famous Dakar Rally, and was even the official broadcaster of the Sandown 500 from 1992-1995.
There are currently five eligible TCR Series manufacturers confirmed for this year. HMO Customer Racing recently took delivery of its third Hyundai i30 N, while Honda, Audi, Volkswagen and Alfa Romeo will also be represented. The latter will see Bathurst 1000 winning team Garry Rogers Motorsport take delivery of two Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloces.
The opening round of the TCR Australia will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 17-19.
