Todd Kelly goes on TCR fact-finding mission to Germany
TCR Australia team owner Todd Kelly has made a short visit to Germany to get a first-hand view of TCR racing.
The former Bathurst 1000 winner and TCR team owner visited the Oschersleben circuit as a guest of Lubner Motorsport, the team responsible for the build of the Opel Astra TCR cars that Kelly Racing will enter this year.
Kelly met with Lubner Motorsport boss Mirko Lubner, discussing a range of technical and sporting regulations around the Opel and the world of TCR.
Kelly Racing will field four cars in TCR Australia, including the two Astras and two Subaru WRX STIs. Its four cars will arrive in Australia this week.
So far, Kelly Racing is yet to make an announcement regarding its four drivers. The team expects to confirm its drivers in the coming weeks.
The opening round of the TCR Australia Series will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 17-19.
Close to 20 cars will be in the country and able to compete in the new-to-Australia under 2 litre touring car class, with brands such as Audi, Alfa Romeo, Honda, Hyundai, Opel, Subaru, Renault and Volkswagen set to be on the grid.
Every TCR Australia race across the seven rounds will be broadcast live, free and in HD on SBS, as well as live streamed around the world on the Shannons Nationals Facebook page.

Owner, Kelly Racing
“I have had a great experience with the Lubner Motorsport team at Oschersleben,” said Todd Kelly.
“The team is very professional and were very open with all of the information that Kelly Racing will need to field our two Opel Astras.
“I was really impressed with the cars on track. The TCR Germany Series has 18 cars and the times between the different cars was very close and competitive. And its great that our Australian series is going to kick off with almost the same amount of cars. I think it’s going to be a really good show.”
