LUFF TO STEER DEFENDING WINNER IN 2017
WARREN LUFF will team up with Leigh Burges to tackle the 2017 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour next Easter. Luff and Burges will drive the #11 DPO BMW 335i, the car that won the 2016 race in the hands of Chaz Mostert and Nathan Morcom. While Luff won’t drive the car until Bathurst next year, Burges will make his debut behind the wheel this weekend at Sydney Motor Sport Park in the final round of the Australian Production Car Series.”Doing the Bathurst 6 Hour is kind of returning to my racing roots because so much of my early career was all production car racing, and different production based one make series,” Luff explained.”Any time you get to race at Bathurst is exciting and the support the 6hr is receiving is seeing it quickly grow as an event.”The car we are driving has great history and will certainly be in with a chance.”Luff says he is looking forward to lining-up with co-driver Burges and rates their chances for success at the Mountain.”Leigh and I are going to Bathurst feeling very confident, and I am looking forward to working with and helping him with my experience,” Luff said.”The team have the experience and the people to help deliver us a strong result.” The 2017 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will double as the first round of an expanded six-round calendar for the Australian Production Car Series next year.While Luff and Burges will steer the DPO team’s existing BMW, the outfit will expand next year thanks to the addition of a Ford Focus RS to the squad in time for Bathurst. Though yet to confirm drivers, GT ace Morcom is expected to return as part of the squad as they seek to defend their victory in the 6 Hour this year.Burges will drive the BMW with Matthew Brabham in Sydney this weekend as the IndyCar / Stadium Truck racer makes his debut in the series.
