Lachlan Mineeff preparing for first full Supercheap Auto TCR Australia program
Following an expanded effort at the Bathurst finale last year, Lachlan Mineeff enters his first full-season campaign in Supercheap Auto TCR Australia with added confidence.
Mineeff’s Purple Sector operation expanded to a second Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR driven by Keegan Brain for the concluding round at the Mountain in what was only the team’s second event following its debut at Sydney Motorsport Park last May.

Only three rounds into his Supercheap Auto TCR Australia career, Mineeff is committed to the category and is enthusiastic about Purple Sector’s prospects heading into the upcoming season.
“We’ve just learnt so much and it’s very easy to forget we’ve only done two race meetings as a team, and myself three as a driver,” Mineeff explained.
“We just need to keep at it and remember we’re competing against some serious campaigners so it’s not going to take much for our luck to turn.
“Bathurst was fantastic for us having strong race pace during the week up there and that is obviously one of the toughest tracks in the country.
“I think there is plenty of opportunity to keep on improving our car and team to make sure our processes are there to make sure we continue our fight up the grid.”
Race Tasmania marks the first time Mineeff has raced on the Apple Isle, but with modern technology preparations have been made just a little bit easier.
“I’ve used the simulator quite a lot throughout last year and ahead of Tasmania,” he said.
“It’s been quite a help. Symmons Plains is quite a unique circuit down there featuring a diverse mix of slow and tight corners, as well as the fast back sweeper.
“We’re hoping to race well down there.”
Even though Purple Sector will field a sole Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for Mineeff for the opening rounds, the procedures learnt at Bathurst will carry across as it targets consistency in its maiden full-season campaign.
“With the equipment and resources we have we’re working really well,” Mineeff summarised.
“It was great we were able to muster together a really fantastic team of people and from there it was exciting to put it all together [at Bathurst]. It wasn’t an easy weekend, but we made it through and finishing all three races with both cars achieved our goal.
“The experience we gained by running two Volkswagen Golf GTIs was great, but to divert that back to one car for the opening few rounds will be good.
“Eyes are forward to hopefully expanding to back to two cars later in the season.”
Race Tasmania will launch the 2022 Australian motorsport season featuring Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship and the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series.
The Symmons Plains event will be held on February 11-13.
