Buchan Leads Soutar in Bathurst Practice 1

Reigning Supercheap Auto TCR Australia series champion Josh Buchan has set the early pace in the first practice session of the final series round at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International – but his main title rival was next best on the time sheet.

The HMO Customer Racing driver set a 2m17.0924s lap to be 0.78-seconds quicker than title rival Zac Soutar’s Tufflift Racing Audi.

Buchan leads Soutar by 36 points heading into this weekend’s final round.

The brand new GRM Peugeot of Aaron Cameron was third fastest (2m18.0956s) from Dylan O’Keeffe’s ASM Lynk & Co and Brad Harris’ Wall Racing Honda Civic.

Tom Oliphant’s Hyundai was sixth from Jordan Cox and Will Harris, now behind the wheel of the Honda Civic previously driven by Tony D’Alberto.

The second brand-new GRM Peugeot of Ryan Casha was ninth heading Ben Bargwanna at the helm of one of the Peugeots that debuted at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Kiwi newcomer Blake Knowles made his Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series debut at the wheel of the 99motorsport Audi and turned a valuable seven laps in just his second trip to Mount Panorama to record the 11th-fastest time.

The TCR cars will return to the track this afternoon for Practice 2 at 4.40pm local time.

The twopart qualifying session begins tomorrow at 9.10am local time with Race 1 at 2.05pm AEDT.

Coverage of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International is streaming on 7+ on Saturday from 11.45am to 6pm AEDT and on Sunday from 10am to 5.15pm AEDT.
