TCR AUSTRALIA REVISES CALENDAR STRATEGY & SEASON START

Following consultation with teams, TCR Australia has decided not to proceed with the series’ previously scheduled round in Perth.

The TCR Australia Series will now comprise four rounds, commencing at One Raceway in New South Wales.

TCR Australia has removed the Perth round from the series schedule as part of a revision of the category’s strategic direction.

The intent of the revised four-round schedule is to contain transport and travel costs for competitors, with the first two rounds now being held in New South Wales (One Raceway) and Victoria (Winton Raceway) – the two Australian states where all existing teams are currently based.

The remaining two rounds of the series will be held in conjunction with the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour at Tailem Bend for the international competition’s Australian return, and the prestigious Guia Touring Car Race at the Macau Grand Prix.

TCR Australia Series teams will compete in the Guia Touring Car Race with freight to and from Macau fully covered.

Confirmation of teams and drivers for the sixth running of the TCR Australia Series will be forthcoming as the series builds towards its 2025 launch.

Director – TCR Australia Group

“The original TCR Australia Series calendar for 2025 included events in New Zealand and Perth, which were chosen in response to teams wanting to race at more high-profile events in front of large audiences. After working with our teams to deliver both events, it is apparent that the series needs to commence on the east coast of Australia at a circuit such as One Raceway, where the logistical requirements and associated costs of competing are viable for more competitors.

“We have repositioned the 2025 series to a four-round competition within a six-month period, and what we believe is an excellent value offering with the right balance of cost-effective events in New South Wales and Victoria, and premium events alongside the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour at Tailem Bend and the Macau Grand Prix. To reiterate, sea freight costs to and from Macau will be covered for TCR Australia competitors.

“The TCR Australia Series for 2025 will start later than intended, but this is a necessary decision as we work to position TCR Australia for success and stability, both this year and long-term.”
